Hi everyone.

I spent most of yesterday working on this until my eyes turned inside out. :-D

It is quite complicated.....so I am going to post all the info I found on here, and see where I end up.

Looking for the parents of Agnes Mary White 1866

Agnes Mary White married James Carpenter in 1887 Lymington.

They appear on the 1891 census.....It states Agnes was born 1866 Lymington, Hampshire.
Agnes and James emigrated to Australia in 1900.

It has been bought to my attention that the parents of Agnes was Stephen and Mary.

There are no census records to match this information.

I noticed the age difference between Agnes and Samuel.

(There are no Munden births registered for any of the children.)

On reseaching Stephen Munden

Name: Stephen Warn Munden
Birth: Apr 1838 - Lymington, Hampshire

Stephen married Eliza Ann Woodford in 1864

Eliza died in 1870.........Stephen is a Widower on the 1871 census.

There is no second marriage registered between Stephen and a Mary Ann.

It did cross my mind to purchase the marriage cert Jan........but I am not sure it will give me the correct information.

You will see what I mean by the time I have finished this! :-)

Yes that is Alice and James in 1891 Jude.

If the daughter is Mary Elizabeth Carpenter.........it seems she was born before her parents marriage.

I think the marriage cert would also state that her father was Stephen White.

As you say, it would depend on who registered the death and what information the informant was aware of.

Have you seen the photos of her?

Edit: There is only one death registered for a George White in Lymington between 1861 and 1871..........and that is in 1861.

That would explain why Mary was in the Workhouse.

What it doesn't explain is who is the Father of Agnes Mary White.

If that is the correct information.........then it is highly unlikely that the name of Agnes's real Father will ever be know. :-(

Have pm'd the photos though the trees do not have any substantiation of parentage. The death index though suggest a Stephen White as father.

1871 Other children with White surname with her as inmates Elizabeth age 13 and Anne age 9. Not sure these are right birth years when I looked at birth index

I am wondering if Alice Mintern on the 1871 census (Age 5) is the same Alice Geo White on the 1861 census (Age 2) and her age is incorrect.
