It's quite possible Bernard is on the road]

As an aside, I have rellies from Fraserborough and Peterhead, so it's not unusual there that the head of the h/h is absent (gone off fishing).
If his wife describes herself as Wife on the census, rather than (acting) head, which is not at all unusual, then Ancestry gets dreadfully confused about where the h/h begins. and her h/h is often combined with the previous h/h, so giving that head two wives.
In Canada and USA, LAC/FS follow Ancestry's transcription.

Eliza Jane (Barham) worked for Robert Dunk Hop Factor who lived at Oak House Leigh Green Tenterden. She left to get married in Lambeth to John Greenhill a miller, before or after the 1871 census. Thank you for identifying the "Shed"

A couple of pages before the unknown male's entry on the 1901 census record it has the Playfoot (Playford ?) family living at Old Farm or Dunks Place.

I had thought the unknown man's address of "Old Farm shed" meant he was dossing in some old farm shed - but at least it looks as it was specifically a shed at Old Farm!

I don't see Eliza with any Dunk family.

That's an interesting thing re Edward's mother having worked for a family called Dunk in 1871.

Sonya says:

If you're looking for it on Ancestry, enter "Male" as the first name, leave surname blank.
Enter 1876 and Ashford, Kent as year and place of birth.

Are you referring to the census posted 18 months ago by ArgyllGran? It has "Male aged 25 at Dunks Place?

This is it as transcribed by Find My past with the previous family lumped in too. In actual fact if you look at the original, the Smith family are at a different address.

You can obviously enter their information and unknown will follow on from them, but otherwise I asked FMP to find a person (no name entered) born in 1876 in Ticehurst RD, Kent and he was the only one that came up.

His name's unknown, and although his place of birth has been transcribed as Ashford, I think it's just a row of dots on the image, denoting no entry, rather than the ditto marks the transcriber thought they were. If nobody knew his name, they were hardly likely to know where he was born.

I have found that his Fathers sister Elizabeth married James Elliott whose son Samuel married Dorothy Egles 1878. in Ontario and emigrated there in 1881..living in Milwaukee Wisconsin. So perhaps he went there.Can I find a census for that are fro 1901 onwards?
