Please can anybody help me with my research? My husband's mother was called Patricia Dorsett and was born 21 Jan 1934 in Battersea, London . She had a sister Nora Eileen. The birth record shows the mothers surname as Dorsett - this is the same for the sister as well. There is no surname for the father. All my husband knows is she was born in London then was evacuated to Wiltshire during the war. She was married 3 times, the 2nd husband was my husband's father. I am unable to go back any further than his grandmother. Any detectives out there? My husband is Mark Timson. |

If you buy Patricia's birth certificate it will give her mother's full name and you can then look for her parents. |

Thanks - didn't know if there was any other way - or if her first name would be listed |

The mother's first name will be on the birth certificate. Then you can look for her birth. |

Not certain that this will be the same family but this is the only Dorsett family in Battersea in the 1911 census:- |

Which is the cheapest way to get certificates? or is it the same wherever you order them from |
|||
|
KathleenBell | Report | 3 Jan 2015 01:04 |
Only ever order from the GRO especially if the birth is registered in London as most London register offices will not issue certificates for family history purposes. |

Hi Jacqueline - She is definitely deceased - she is my husbands mother. I know she married 3 times - Pick, Timson and Dibley. The middle husband who is also deceased is his father. |

jansmith as far as my husband knows he only had one aunt - Eileen (Nora Eileen) |

I think the birth of the other child that jansmith mentioned - Irene born 1931 - may be a different family as Ian who's tree she is in does not have either Patricia or Norah in his tree. "Norah" is the correct spelling according to the birth registration. |

I have spoken to my husbands cousin and they believe Patricia and Norah's mother may have been unmarried and there may be another sister but unsure of details. I will get a certificate ordered shortly. |

An unmarried daughter of William John and Ada Florence who married in 1908 could have been the parent of Patricia b 1934 and Norah b 1936. That way the mother would have the same surname as the child. |

The birth certificate arrived today....no father mentioned - not surprised...the mothers name was Doris Maud Dorsett - I can't see a birth for her but have found a possible marriage Dec 1937 with George Lock - is this a coincidence as also in Battersea? Can anybody find Doris's birth - have I missed it? |
