Find Ancestors

Hi I am trying to find my Great Grandmother's parents details...
This is all that my Grandad is able to tell me:
Winifred May Bowring, born in 1908 in Weymouth, Dorset. Her father died when she was a baby and her mother married a Mr Dare, a fisherman, also in Weymouth. Winifred May Bowring then became a Bowring-Dare. Then Mr Dare died and Mrs Dare then married a Mr Brown from Poole, Dorset. Then Mrs Dare (now possibly known as Mrs Brown?), also died! It's so tragic!!! So Mr Brown was then left a widow, with a child (Winifred May, my Great Grandmother)??!!?!?! So Mr Brown married a lady whom no-one knows the name of and my Great Grandmother, Winifred May Bowring, was left without her natural parents and never remembered her birth parents! So, so sad! Can anyone help me please? :-( :-S

In which case Winifred was illegitimate, and unless her father is named on her birth cert, you'll not be able to find out who her father was.

so ...................... if Winifred was really born in 1902, and her mother married Mr Brown in 1920


Winifred must have been about 18 .................. and therefore would have been old enough remembered her mother and stepfathers, even if she never knew her birth father.

Maybe she told her children that she couldn't remember because she wasn't sure of her birth father, or maybe some traumatic experiences?

Possible death for wife Sarah in 1902?....leaving it a possibility that Henry was the father of Winifred, but didn't marry her mother until the following year?

That's what I was thinking, RR.

Maybe Winifred was told (or decided for herself) that her father had died when she was a baby, to cover up the fact that her parents didn't marry until after her birth..
