Hi Sylvia and all
Thank you so much that's them on 1871 census but gives another child. The Amelia that I found was christened on 30 March 1887 at Mary's Church Nottingham and says born 12 July 1874 and of Roden St. If only we could find them on 1881 census.
I have now found Edward Burton's (Bulwell) burial on 18 July 1891 at St Catherines Church Yard say of Rowden St think that should be Roden St.
all the best

I saw that Amelia Burton marrying Ernest Dann ........
.................. but I discounted it after researching the censuses because the age difference was so great ......... and it was consistent.
The Amelia born of Edward Burton was apparently born in 1866.
The one who married Ernest Dann was consistently born ca 1873
That's a big difference!
even if she lied because she was marrying a younger man :-)
To be sure ................ you'll have to buy that marriage certificate, and see who is named as Amelia's father.

Hi Wendy
I can find Ernest in 1911 at 34 Raglan Street Nottingham
Children still at home with him Rose age 19 Ethel age 16 Annie age 14 Leonard age 10 And another son born after 1901- Alfred age 8
I haven't done a thorough search for Amelia yet. It doesn't say that Ernest was a Widower.

hi Kath,
You are up early this morning. Thank you sooo much I to cannot find anything on her she not coming up on the index's and cannot find a death either.
Well at least we are making some progress with the Burton's still cannot find anything for her mother Elizabeth or sister Emma, think I'm going to have to wait for the archives to reopen and look at burials and marriages for them.
Again Thank you so much and I hope you are well.
All the best

Hi Wendy
Still recovering from my op, just logging in on my laptop whilst pain relief kicks in !!!
I had another quick look for Amelia senr, and wonder if she could be in some hospital or Sanatorium in 1911. Not familiar with the ones around Nottingham at that time, so will pass that back to you
Also noted Ernest junr and Amelia junr are missing, they could be more easily explained, working away from home perhaps.

Think you're probably right about Emma Smith being Emma Burton, but can't find a marriage. On the 1901 census Emma's husband is 'John' as opposed to 'Bernard' on the 1911 census. Assume he was either John Bernard or Bernard John.
