Ah, so Jabez must have died between 1900 and 1910.

Looks like it David but I'm not finding deaths for any of them.

Really need to go and do some chores now but will look back later :-)

I have just noticed the son John who was aged 7 months on the 1881 census, is not with the family in 1885. He must have passed away.

Plus it states that Jane/James (It does say female?) has 3 children living.

David, looked again at the image of the 1900 census. It definitely says Jane, female and d for divorced ( the Ws on the same page look different). It says she has had 8 children and 3 still living.

So, if they divorced, we don't know when Jabez died.......but he is showing up on the American census.
