I believe that the travel info would be correct, and now has me wondering why he would go back home and then come back to Australia?
Any clues as to where the travel info comes from?
And could it be that we are looking for a death in NSW?
Susan, the birth info for BAILEY SIDNEY E Male - at a glance looks to be correct, just not the dates, but maybe we have them wrong, or Sidney didn't know for sure?

Hi Sandy
I think he might be the Samuel BAILEY who died 9/9/1942 in Perth, WA, aged 56. The age is a perfect match! He is buried at Karrakatta Anglican (www.mcb.wa.gov.au).
If this is him then he remarried in 1920 to Bertha Hilda May EVENIS (reg 531, Perth). She had two daughters (his stepdaughters) Edna & Beryl, named in his funeral notice: http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article47346815
Bertha died 3/11/1953 aged 65. Her daughter Edna Constance May was born as EVENIS in 1911 and died as COOMBS 12/10/1969. Younger daughter was born as Adele B EVENIS in 1914 and died as Beryl Adele BACHE 4/4/1970.
Bertha H M COTRILL married Wm EVENIS in 1911. Bertha & Wm divorced in 1920.

Hi Cherilyn,
You are thinking the same thing that I am too - I have just trawled through Trove, and I have all of the newspaper articles on him, including this one.. Samuel Bailey (36), insurance, agent, was remanded on bail on a charge of having assaulted his wife, Bertha Bailey., Tuesday 7 November 1922 :-(
Thank you for looking, I am just astounded at all the help I have recieved! :-) I think I will also order his death certificate, can't hurt

Hi Sandy
Pretty sure the Birth is correct for Sidney, please bear in mind that Samuel did go back to the Uk at some time ( not yet found)and come back again to SIDNEY (Many thousands of Ks from Perth WA )in 1926. If me married Bertha in 1920 I find it strange he did not come back to WA to be with his said Wife Bertha.
Please let us know about the Certs and what it says I am very interested about this one :-) In the meantime I will keep looking :-(

Hi Sue,
I know it is all (at this stage) speculation, but I am willing to get the birth certificate for Sidney (he was born on the 30th Dec in 1911, so the registration in 1912 would be logical) and the death certificate for Samuel just to find out. He may have gone back to the UK for a visit, and for some reason stopped in NSW before returning to Perth. I am going to do a bit more homework on the Bertha theory first.
I will definitely keep you all posted, but in the meantime if you come across anything else, please let me know
Sandy
:-)
