The 1891 census from Find My Past shows your William Leonard MILES with his brother(Ben Franklin MILES) and father Job in the Bicester workhouse.

You can find the family(minus William) in 1901 with mother Sarah and father Job.

And my grandfather served in WW2 - I believe the Irish Guards based in London. This is how he met his wife (surname Daly from Coatbridge, Scotland). I know he was a prisoner of war in Japan, so I have been trying to find more info on his wartime stuff.

I cannot find either William Leonard or Lena Rebecca for certain sure on any other censuses


I'm afraid this is a case where you are going to have to buy their marriage certificate in order to get the names of their fathers :-(

If either brother served in WW2, have you tried to find any service records to seer if there are nok details?

Only worry is that my dad told me my grandad didn't speak about them. Is it possible he didn't disclose the information when he married?

I would wait until you get the certificates Miles. Otherwise we are just guessing as his parents could have married in Wiltshire or West Ham or indeed anywhere. Also if his Mum had been married before she would have married Ben's Dad using a different name to Marsh.
