Hi All
Thank you very very much, it looks like it is Anne and Peter Covington, which could be misheard/changed over the years. I will check the actual record for Anne's birth and death to see if there is any other information with it that will confirm the info. I was aware of the census records but have found if my info is wrong, I am leading you all on a false trail so give only the info I know for sure
Thanks once again
Regards Chrissey

sorry Gins, don't know about data ... Chrissey already had the census info, she just hadn't given it to us so I posted the basics we needed, names plus ages and places ... I never think we need every line of info copied all double-spaced with all the things about parish maps and such :-)

Looks liked it escaped me JoonieC, lol, thought I'd post FMP one, then Gins could transfer PFP numbers in Ancestry, but curiosity made me do it myself, like to make things easy for her, she knows me well!, all helps in the end, lol.
And looks llike chrissey will be busy!.

Ann could be for his mother ... or his grandmother, unfortunately it could be either one

Gins and Chris did you read my post at all? :-)
I posted the 1841 per Ancestry:
however in 1841 they appear in Cardington at Ancestry as Thomas Rackin 67 Sarah Rackin 60 Peter Rackin 9 aha, recently corrected (i.e. the name has been corrected to Parkins this week)
and I posted the 1851 in Cardington (a lot more concisely !!)
Thomas Parkin 77 Ann Parkin 72 Peter Parkin 18 Mary Sannan 50
and noted the Sarah/Ann name difference
I think Sarah/Ann was somebody known by both names, possibly Sarah Ann whose mother was Sarah, that sort of thing ... she appears to be the same person throughout
and also I posted what are surely baptisms to the grandparents in Westoning, Sarah 1802, Denbigh 1806 and Elizabeth 1808, Westoning being the place of birth of Thomas and his wife in the 1851 census, and the son born in 1805 called Denbigh is in Cardington in the censuses
there could have been later children born in Cardington such as the Anne Parkyns 1814 whose baptism (sorry, burial) Chris posted, in fact since she died in 1834 she would be a good candidate for being Peter Parkins's mother
edit - yes, freereg has this 1811 baptism that is most likely to the same Thomas and Sarah/Ann
County Bedfordshire Place Cardington Church St. Mary BaptismDate 16 Jun 1811 Forename Mary FatherForename Thos MotherForename Ann FatherSurname PERKINS FileNumber 15635
the same baptism at familysearch, batch P00346-1: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NPV6-DHD
and I posted the 1851 census for a Peter Covington aged 38 cordwainer (shoemaker) born in Cardington ... who could be the father of Peter Parkins ... or ... Peter Parkins's father could have died before 1841
(I don't understand how the name Ekins comes into it here - Curbington or Curlington as it is transcribed at familysearch is that child's middle name, surname Ekins, the birth was in a different bit of Bedfordshire and the baptism was in Northamptonshire ... the mother seems to have been Elizabeth Crick: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/JQBT-V3T )
Chrissey did you have any thoughts about that Peter Covington or the baptisms of children of Thomas and Sarah/Ann ?
I think it is quite likely that Peter Covington c1813 shoemaker is the father of Peter Parkins, and Ann Parkyns 1814 who died in 1834 as Chris found is his mother
note: in batch P00346-1 at familysearch the oldest Peter Covington posted by Chris is shown as Coventon in some of his baptisms e.g. Elizabeth 1778 and his son Peter is shown as Covington for 1775 baptism
but no baptism for the Peter born c1813 is showing up

I would bet that this is a child of Thomas and Sarah/Ann Parkins
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NYY4-NQP
Name: Denbigh Parkins Gender: Male Christening Date: 26 Jan 1806 Christening Place: WESTONING,BEDFORD,ENGLAND Birth Date: 24 Nov 1805 Father's Name: Thomas Parkins Mother's Name: Ann
same birth place as Thomas and Ann in 1851, and living in Cardington in 1851 (I searched censuses for Parkins born in Westoning hoping to find a son or unmarried daughter)
other births to that couple in that place:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NPDH-NSS Sarah Parkins 1802 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/J3ZC-DJK Elizabeth Parkins 1808
one of them is likely Peter Parkins's mother?
there are a lot of people at this site with Thomas Parkins 1770/1775 Westoning in their trees (just search for Thomas Parkins 1775 +/- 10 years in Bedfordshire, for reasons unknown, the search function will not find him if you specify Westoning)

I think Coolington is not a real name.
the Codrington marriage looks just right for the 1881 Thomas ... but he seems to have no connection with Bedfordshire ... and there are few Codringtons in the BMDs in Bedfordshire/Northamptonshire ...
a birth in Wellingboro in 1845, a death in Bedford 1894 and then marriages after 1920 in those two districts and later events elsewhere in Northants the surname is mostly associated with Gloucestershire/Somerset extending into Wiltshire, Dorset, Hampshire, and with London
Covington is a possibility ... in 1851 there is a Peter Covington c1813 in Bedford St Paul with wife Maria (probably Smith married 1843 Bedford reg dist) and children, >> a cordwainer (shoemaker)
Peter Covington 38 > born in Cardington Maria Covington 28 Stephen Covington 7 Emma Covington 5 Peter Covington 3 Robert Covington 1
Cardington is in the Bedford reg dist
there is also a Petre Covington (as spelled by freebmd) death in Bedford reg dist in 1839, and others in June quarter 1851 and later
I wish we could have all the details known ... living in 1861 with his wife and child, names? where?
children's names can be helpful if they are connected with the parent's family for instance ... possibly named for a parent's mother ...
you say his grandparents were Thomas and Sarah Parkins ... but in 1851 he is living with Thomas and Ann Parkins ...
Thomas Parkin 77 Ann Parkin 72 Peter Parkin 18 Mary Sannan 50
someone has corrected the surname from Parkin in that census at Ancestry, do you know that person? a different person has more recently corrected the data for their lodger and a third person has corrected Thomas's place of birth
however in 1841 they appear in Cardington at Ancestry as
Thomas Rackin 67 Sarah Rackin 60 Peter Rackin 9
aha, recently corrected :-)
do you think Peter Parkins could have been Peter Covington, and took his grandparents' name after death or desertion by his father or parents? and he simply didn't know his father's given name and used his own? ... not at all unheard of
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NDH4-DFP
Name: Peter Covington Gender: Male Christening Date: 09 Oct 1831 Christening Place: St. Marys, Bedford, Bedford, England Father's Name: William Covington Mother's Name: Mary Indexing Project (Batch) Number: I03641-3
but no I think that Covington family can be ruled out ... she was probably Mary Ann Hall and that child is likely in the 1841 census as 'Paler Covington' at Ancestry with mother Maryann.
there are Covingtons in Bedford in all censuses
I think I would be interested in the shoemaker Peter in 1851 perhaps ... when he married in 1843 he was already 30 and could have been a widower or had a child when he was young ... I can't spot him in 1841 ...
there are two people at this site with a Peter Covington 1813, no place of birth shown, in their trees
and there are several people with other Covingtons born in Cardington in the 1700s and early 1800s in their trees, one of them being one of the people who has Peter Covington 1813
it's possible they could tell you something about him
