Thank you, Gins! Your research is a definite match. When I examined the marriage certificate, George's age shows as a "faded number 21." There is a slight curl showing his age of 26.
So, George Bunyan was sighted in Scotland in 1945, which fits. His wife, my grandmother, Winifred emigrated to Canada after my aunt, Jeanne married an RCAF pilot in 1946. My own mother, Eileen emigrated with my father, Stanton in 1947 with my brother, who was 9 years of age at the time. I was born in Canada.
I wonder where I could search for siblings and possible new family for George?

Have you tried to find descendants of your grandfather's siblings - they may know if he was ever located?

Blanch Emily was a spinster when she died 3/1/1949 - probate was granted to her brother Reginald Montague Bunyan.

Evelyn Marion married William Coyle Edwards in 1915, she died 30/5/1965, probate to Lloyds bank

Selina Violet married Reginald Herbert Beach in 1914. she died Dover in 1961, he died Bromley in 1959.

Reginald Montague died in Ealing in 1980, I think he married Mary C Egan in 1927, Brentford.

Ida Beatrice I think m Francis J Williams in Lewisham in 1928, but not sure about this one.

You could look for children of theirs on freebmd.

When his mother Selina Cawte Bunyan died 27/6/1944 her probate was granted to son Reginald Montague.

POLICE NEWS

George F. V. Bunyan, master builder, Collier Row, pleaded not guilty to charge of being under the influence of drink while in charge of a motor car on Dec. 9. Mr J.C.L. Sharman defended, and elected that the case should go for trial. At the close of the evidence he submitted that no case had been made out to warrant committal, but a case was sent for trial at the Essex Quarter Session, bail being allowed.

There is an obit on Trove which doesn't appear to match 'your' man. That said, I can't find a birth for this one in Queensland, as stated in the obit
