04 September 1916 - Aberdeen Evening Express - Aberdeen

James Petrie (69), retired scavenger, residing at 25, Frederick Street, Aberdeen, was discovered about 10.30 this morning suspended by a cord round his neck at the back of his bedroom door. He was cut down, and Dr. Moncur who was called in, attempted to revive him, by artificial respiration, but without success, as life was extinct. Petrie had been in ill health for some time.
