JoonieCloonie Report 15 Jul 2015 10:02

Glenn, they are not too likely to see this message unless they search the internet for these names ... one has to look for people in order to find them

I did give you what appeared to be current contact info for a grandchild of Lydia Marsh Birch

have you followed up on that at all?

Glenn

Glenn Report 15 Jul 2015 09:23

Looking for any living descendants of my cousin, Lydia Marjorie Birch,i would love to hear from you if you can help.
We believe she had three children and it would be wonderful to make contact how ever brief this may be.
Fingers crossed,
Glenn Ford.

Hi JoonieCloonie,
Thankyou.
Glenn.

JoonieCloonie

JoonieCloonie Report 13 Jul 2015 14:45

thank you for the message you sent and you're very welcome Glenn ! Finding this sort of thing is always a bit of a thrill. I did think you might want to save it and share it :-)

it might be too much to hope that Lydia is still living but it could be worth checking with the address on the electoral roll and maybe neighbours ... she was certainly very hale and hearty at 85 it seemed

or the production company might have information?

anyone else interested in the life of a strong woman who overcame early disadvantages (poverty and an abusive husband) (she was open about this in the interview so it is not sensitive info) and went on to live an enormously full and long life ... and just a bit of the real story behind the dry data we ordinarily have access to in ancestor searches ... will also enjoy the tapes.

that also means that this result from the search for 'lydia marjorie birch' that I had initially disregarded

Kenya Gazette - Google Books Result
https://books.google.ca/books?id=96OQ5X-LoN0C
? - 1595 pages
Box 124, Nakuru; Mrs. Lydia Marjorie Birch, P.0. Bork 849, Kisumu; Mrs. Helen D' Cunha, P.0. Box 4, Kisumu;_ Mrs. Rebecca Athieno Oluoch, P.0. Box 105 ...

is in fact about your Lydia, whose name appears in the lower right corner of this page:

http://tinyurl.com/pkcpl7j

I'm listening to Lydia ... she talks about her mother Charlotte ...

edit ... in fact ... I just listened to 30 minutes ... there are two more segments, which I will postpone for myself as it is late but you will want to make time for :-)

JoonieCloonie

and then making the search for 'birch lydia marjorie' as it might appear in a death notice finds this

JoonieCloonie

JoonieCloonie Report 12 Jul 2015 23:18

you may want to contact the owner of this Birch family tree that shows Lydia Marjorie Birch née Marsh

the owner clearly knows of her children and does show a child for one of them

http://www.myheritage.com/site-family-tree-196133291/family-site-backupmytree?familyTreeID=51

simple things ... googled the name 'lydia marjorie birch' (to begin looking for a possible death notice)

if you click to see Lydia's ancestors, it shows her as having two siblings, and shows her mother Lydia with two siblings Evalina and Ethel

and goes back some generations on the Durrell and Bunday lines ... whether the tree owner is related to Lydia herself i.e. the Marsh/Bunday family is not evident

JoonieCloonie

JoonieCloonie Report 12 Jul 2015 23:03

as I understand it you also want to find the death of Lydia Marjorie (Marsh) Birch, married to Stanley T Birch

this is likely the husband's death

Name: Stanley Thomas Birch
Birth Date: 7 Feb 1909
Date of Registration: Dec 1998
Age at Death: 89
Registration district: Surrey Northern
Inferred County: Surrey
Register Number: NSB6
District and Subdistrict: 7571B
Entry Number: 55

Births Mar 1909
BIRCH Stanley Thomas Hackney 1b 437

a Lydia M Birch aged 103 was on the electoral roll recently, in fact that would be the current electoral roll if born 1912

you can find that info at

http://www.freeelectoralroll.co.uk/

(cannot link to it directly or I would make you a tinyurl for it)

but 192.com shows her at that address only until 2010

so it seems possible she has died recently and death records for recent dates are not available on line

JoonieCloonie Report 12 Jul 2015 22:22

Glenn you have edited your opening post so the thread makes no sense

a few posts down on page 1 you say

'I have very little info but possibly Portsmouth area,i think her mum was Lydia Marsh nee Bundy whose mum was Charlotte Bundy nee Durrell ,there may be variants on Bundy sir name, hope this helps and thankyou.'

there is no indication to tell anyone who SHE is except that the posts in the thread seem to indicate it is about a Susan

perhaps you edited to take out personal info about a probably living person

but the thing is pretty incoherent now ...

please don't start any more threads though

edit, okay, google's cache gives us the original opening post for anyone else as lost as I was

Looking for Susan Marsh whose mum would have been, i believe Lydia Marsh nee Bundy or any children of Susan.I have very, very little info on this person but she could have been a beauty contestant at some point.
Any help how ever little would be appreciated.

freebmd is just so easy

Go to the the site.................click on the red box 'search'

For births after 1911, simply put both surnames in the boxes as labelled and click find

To find deaths, just put in the surname and first forename, plus initial of second forename, if applicable

Glenn

Glenn Report 12 Jul 2015 08:19

Use this free site to look for bmd's from Q3 1837 to approx 1960's at present

http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl

There are 3 Portsmouth births showing for surname Birch with mother's maiden name Marsh. Not seeing deaths up to 2007 for any of them.

Glenn Report 8 Jul 2015 09:35

Dear Friends,
Update on my progress.
I have found that Lydia Charlotte Alice Marsh nee Bunday, had a daughter called Lydia (Marjorie)Marsh who Married Stanley T Birch 1934 in the 4th Q,as yet do not know if they had children.
Lydia had two known brothers, John and Ronald and their farther called John Marsh, nicknamed Jack, died 25/05/1921.
I have also found that Lydia`s mother`s husband Richard did in deed drown and will be getting death certificate from" Death at Sea Register" in due course.

p.s any further help you can offer will be gratefully received especially if i can locate Lydia`s mother`s death.
Yours in success,
Glenn.

One possible child showing on FreeBMD - as already posted earlier in this thread - and two with spelling Bundy, already mentioned:

Marsh Lydia M Bunday Portsmouth 2b 994

Re Lydia's death - did you investigate the death record posted by Ricochet nearer the top of this page - on 18July 2014 at 21:52?
