My Thomas Alexander Fergusson was born in Brighton 12 Feb 1831. His father was James Fergusson, a painter. I can find no information at all about James, his year of birth, place of birth, nothing. He may have been born in Scotland. Any suggestions? Bob |

There is no sign of Thomas in either the 1841 or 1851 Census. He is in the 1861 with his wife, and children, and also his M-in-L,who is described as a widow. Bob |

I have checked the 1851 census for 3 Bridgewater Gardens the address given on his Baptism but unfortunately there is no sign of the Fergusson Family |

Interesting that he wasn't baptized until he was 22...................obviously just in time for his marriage |

I wasn't disputing your thinking LB.................merely rebutting Bob's idea, which is clearly erroneous |
