still searching for my Smith family. What I have is Alexander Smith b. 18/5/1867 in Hunstanworth Durham. He married Minnie Barron 26/10/1895 she was B 18/91874 and C. 3/10/1875 in Shotley Northumberland . There seems to be no Father only a mother called Mary Jane Smith . I found one child for Alexander and Minnie being Alexander Smith born 1898 in Lanchester whether anymore I dont know as an arthur Smith went to NZ to live and have no date on that. Whether Alexander Smith born 1898 had a son Arthur and it was him that went to NZ this I do not know but any info on Alexander b 1867 and his wife Minnie Barron would be appreciated . I have been on Ancestry and Family search and still cant find much . Cheers Margaret

sorry guys for not getting back to you sooner but have been off line and trying to find out more from my friend who owns this SMITH family. I would like to thank you all for the info you have posted and for the confusion of wandering off on another generation when I should of posted under the original post. so please accept my apology for doing so. The latest news on this family is that Alexander born 1867 left England before the 1911 census have not found what year and went to New Zealand and worked in the Huntley coal mines and saved enough money to bring Minnie and the daughters to NZ to live . They had 5 daughters what you have said on here and one more being a Lena Smith and when they all settled Alexander and Minnie had a son which no one could find as he was born in NZ he was Arthur Smith b 19. 11.1916 . Alexander died 24/11/1943 and Minnie 4/12/1954 and buried in the HillsboroughCemetery Auckland NZ I have been told the reason they came to nZ was Minnie did not get on with her step father whom I believe to be this Michael Anderson mention on the site by Sylvia .. so apart from finding when Minnie and the daughters went to NZ and also Alexander I seem to have most of it all covered now. Thanks once again for everyones help. Appreciated as always. :-) Margaret

Hi Guys have a couple of questions for you and hope someone can tell me. I have on the 1891 census a name of Chespohe Smith 25 . I am trying to find out where she fits into the family. It is a name that is new to me never heard of anyone called that before. She would of been born abt 1869. I know she is not a sibling of Alexander Smith and Jane Foster . Also one of their sons either Christopher Smith of Thomas Smith/Jeffrey I have been told by family one of them went to Canada to live and one was an alcoholic and died in a work house . I can not find Christopher on the 1891 census so maybe it was him that went to Canada Any help trying to say which one went to Canada would be appreciated and who this Chespohe is. Thanks.
