I think that's now most sides of the family covered-Irish travellers, Scottish railway plate layers, Welsh miners, French romances and everything else English. Still have my ancestry subscription until November. After that I'm on my own. Will have a think about the 6 month deal on here though.
Started off a couple of years ago just looking around. I have a tree from 2006 but that wasn't really anything. I've gone back quite far everywhere else. Might have to start using the record office more in that case! They have free access to just about everything. :-D

Gemma, I realise money is tight but if you take out the standard GR membership for 6 months (£12) you will still have access to the GR boards and GR trees. That way if you need any further help you can come back on the boards and ask.

As you can see from this thread, there are lots of members willing to help - and most of them have subs to other sites as well as GR - and are willing to give their time to help. They've helped me enormously in the past.

It's an addictive hobby for most :-D

I've informed my dad. And I told my little brother we now need to learn the Irish accent. We cracked the Scottish. Not the welsh as it's to difficult.

I wish you the "Luck of the Irish" Gemma.

Ah brilliant. Someone else on ancestry just contacted me.
Yep everything fits! Massive thank you for all the information :) just told my dad we have Irish blood. My mum is always moving on Irish travellers. Which means there is a chance she is moving on some not so distant relatives of mine! Kind of exciting really.

Okay so maybe I mistyped it. My only excuse is dyspraxia. Maybe I meant I've not found one so hoping he will be one! Massive thank you to all of you. I'm gonna make them all work and fit, regardless of whether it's right or not. :)

Gemma....

" I'm still hoping that he will be the black sheep that I can't find"

I wish you had said that at the beginning............and then wouldn't have bothered looking for him!

:-D

Gemma Report 6 Jun 2014 18:31

It was Barbara.
Yes that death would throw the marriage into dispute.
I will be uploading everything to the tree as I'm at the point now where everything all of you sounds correct.
Mind you, I'm still hoping that he will be the black sheep that I can't find. I mean, I've had unmarried mothers but nothing bad. Maybe he was arrested for bigamy or something (I can hope, right?)

Looks like another trip to the records office in that case Astra. This just gets more and more confusing lol. Gonna have to wait though as have no pound coins to hand

Astra Report 6 Jun 2014 17:50

This is bothering me.
If he continued to work in Chichester as a bus driver there is this death.

Name: Frank A Cox
Birth Date: abt 1904
Date of Registration: Sep 1943
Age At Death: 39
Registration district: Chichester
Inferred County: Sussex
Volume: 2b

But that would throw into dispute the marriage to Norah C Grainger in 1946

PricklyHolly

PricklyHolly Report 6 Jun 2014 16:49

It was a team effort..........so I think Astra and Maureen deserve some thanks too.

Oh........and welcome to the boards.

Gemma Report 6 Jun 2014 16:33

Thank you.
If only I the money. Only using genes reunited this month because it was £1. One day they will make the certificates free.
Wonder why (if it def is the same person) why he went from Southampton to witterings/Chichester to Portsmouth that quickly. And if he did move and die in Portsmouth why continue to work in Chichester? He worked as a bus driver at Chichester bus station.
Worth pointing out that my dad (his grandson) is a bus driver at Chichester bus station. Was weird when I found that out!

PricklyHolly

PricklyHolly Report 6 Jun 2014 16:02

Gemma.........I know the best way to go is to purchase certificates, but for what it's worth, all the above information seems far too much of a coincidence for this not to be the correct family.
