Alfred Emmanuel Everson (1861) was my gt.grandfather, he was married to Lucy Lindsay (known as Louisa) Have their marriage certificate.
Alfred Everson gt gt grandfather (1826) married Mary Ann Ponting/Ponton/Parton.I have their marriage certificate. On the 1851 census it shows Alfred was born in Hammersmith.
1841 census shows Alfred Everson 1826 born Hammersmith living with his grandmother Mary at 60 Overy Street Dartford at 14 he is a Blacksmith.
There is a pallots birth 26/2/1826 St Pauls Hammersmith, shows his parents as Elizabeth Everson and Wm Curtis.
As Alfreds grandfather died abt 1823 he would not have known him. He may have become close to his uncle James and used his name as his father? Will never know when he went to live with his grandmother. Perhaps as Elizabeth was on her own she may not have coped.
I married a Smith from Kent so can sympathise lol.

I have not found anything so far but Wests are difficult. I know this as I have Wests and Smiths and more Smiths.
Could you post your starting point on how you got to Alfred. There are still so many unknowns. There are more records than when you last looked so we may find something new.
I am still uncertain about this as we do not yet have confirmation links. All i have done is look at what you already have.

Hi Ladykira,
I think the army recorord for Edward West looks good.
According to Graeme, Overy Street was the home to 3 generations of Eversons. In the 18th century was called Frying Pan Street. In 1849 a public health report condemned Overy Street as insanitary due to bad smells, refuse piled in the street and frequent outbreaks of Typhus etc.
Thank you so much for your help, youve been marvellous. Were you not able to find the 1851 census for Elizabeth and William West?
Hi Chris, Thanks for the baptism record

Did you notice James was also living on Overy Street?
I think they are all related but James does not have a child Alfred.
It is proving difficult to trace the West children as we do not know the name of their mother and nor do we know where they or William were born.

Hi ladykira,
Yes this is the Elizabeth I was looking for. I am so sorry to have put you through all that! I did not realise I had told Graham what had been found. I must have told him straight from the GR site without writing down the details on my familly record sheet thinking I could go back to it any time.
Are you able to find anything after the 1841 census please.
Most grateful Rose

You have been in debate about his father being William or James.
This is the second marriage for Alfred and he again states his father is James. London, England, Marriages and Banns, 1754-1921 about Alfred Everson Name: Alfred Everson Estimated birth year: abt 1833 Age: 53 Spouse Name: Eliza Sloss Spouse Age: 33 Record Type: Marriage Event Date: 28 Mar 1886 Parish: Plumstead St Nicholas Borough: Greenwich Father Name: James Everson Spouse Father: James Sloss Register Type: Parish Register
This does not make sense if his mother was Elizabeth Everson single woman. I think you may need to look at this again. :-S
