Morning Mike, sorry, went to bed early last night wasn't feeling too chipper but am okay now. Well, thank god not going completely mad. Have found a John Spicer with wife Matilda and various children in the 1891 Census. They were neighbours of George and his two sons George James and William Bryant. In the 1881 Census they are living elsewhere ie John and Matilda but have a daughter Emily Jane Spicer who is given as 11 years old so being born around 1870. Haven't found a marriage and perhaps they didn't marry but also haven't found a death for an Emily Jane Spicer. We're getting there. Sorry for all the confusion. |

Hi Mike, will have to look into this as I believe this marriage was to an Emily Jane Bradley so possibly not the right marriage. Sorry if I have confused you. I've tried to look at a marriage for George and Emily Spicer and also a marriage for Emily Spicer to someone called Bradley. Am not sure if this Emily is one in the same person hence my looking for information. Apologies if I am sending anyone up the wrong road. |

Hi Mike, I'm confused now. Where did I quote that, can you please refresh my old memory? I didn't think I had a marriage for them. |

Hi all, I now have the birth certificate for George James Bryant, one of George Edward Bryant's sons. Still haven't found William's volume and page number although we know he was born in 1888. Anyhow, George James mother is given as Emily Jane Bryant formerly Spicer (this is a new one on me). Have looked for a marriage of Emily and George Edward but as yet not come across it. |

Hi again, George is given as a Cement Labourer and as before no father's name given. George is given as being 21 and a bachelor, at time of marriage is resident at Balls Square which I assume is in Strood, Kent where they married. Emily Jane is given as being a spinster aged 18 also of Balls Square. Her father William Bradley is given as being a Labourer. |

I know Flip not, thanks for posting the new message. Just hoping someone will be able to find this out. I know I started the thread off looking for George Snr but any information about the family is greatly received. Unfortunately I always go off on a tangent, start with one person and then start on another. If we don't ask we'll never know. Thanks again for all your help. Am so pleased about William though am still transferring stuff to my tree on Ancestry and have just uploaded the Naval Record and am about to upload George Snr's birth cert. The quest continues. Out of interest do you have a copy of the 1901 Census where you found a William? |

So, where was William in 1901, who became a bargeman? And what happened to the mother? |
