Find Ancestors

A relative and his wife travelled to America on route to Canada in 1947, They then re-entered America (Port Angeles, Washington in 1950) with their daughter. Please can anyone tell me how to find out where they went to in Canada. Also how do I find out about divorces in USA. His last known place of abode was Mount Shasta California.

Ancestry has border crossings Canada to US 1895-1956. It might give their address in Canada. Care to post the names so that we could help?

The only way to enter the US at Pt Angeles was by ferry from Victoria BC.

PM sent to Gillian, re possible correct family, with address in Canada prior to their return to USA.
The daughter is probably still alive.

But they may not be the right people.

If my deciphering of the scribbly note on the record is correct, Emma had a medical certificate to say she was 5 months into pregnancy.

According to a tree on Ancestry, Peter Henry Roberts died in Nevada in 1999 which would fit with this record:

Problem with US divorce records is they vary from state to state, many aren't on line.

On Margaret's arrival at Port Angeles in 1950 it gives her date of birth as 12 May 1947, Victoria, BC.

The daughter was born in May, so the scribbly note would be about right, MC.

On the passenger list that arrived New York, Jan. 1947 where their names had been crossed off they seemed to be travelling with Thomas & Ivy R. Jones, also from Wrexham, received their passports the same day as the Roberts and were going to join the same friend in Nova Scotia. However written beside their name is "Dau. in US, Mrs Douglas, 101 Foster Ave., Oakland, California." This is the same name and address that the Roberts were going to in 1950.

I feel sorry for poor Emma, being pregnant and going through a sea voyage with the seasickness then going through a train trip from the east coast to the west, over 3,000 miles!

I wonder if that's why they didn't make the first voyage Margee?
