On their arrival back in Scotland in 1929 they listed "country of intended future permanent residence" as "other parts of the British Empire". So it seems that they weren't intending to stay in Scotland.

'Was he married in Scotland? If so, his marriage cert will give both his parents names. You can search for the marriage on the scotlandspeople site and order the cert through that site. It is a pay-to-view site and you will need to buy credits. John's birth should also be on that site and you will be able to view and download the original entry.

This is very probably a 'red herring' but I am posting it because it puzzles me !

I have this family coming over in 1955 - A little late if the details of David's birth are correct, I know, BUT the birth date of John is only 4 days out AND his wife's name is Barbara>>>

As I say, probably nothing to do with 'your' John but I would be interested if anyone can find something to eliminate it.

I found a death for a John Denis Wallace Liverpool in 1980 he is not the same family that John was born 1914.

The one above was born 12 Feb. 1924, just 4 days difference from 'your John' on 8th Feb. 1924.
