Member Since: October 2005 Posts: 77 Send Message	According to the 1851 census... John Laxton b. 1815 Winick Hunts married Jane _____ b 1814 Peterborough. They are found in the 1851 census in Yaxley with some children. On other sites they have Jane's surname as Laxton (but no proof she was a Laxton too).. I cannot find their marriage... First child Mary Jane was born 1841 in Yaxley according to the census. I cannot find the 1841 census either. If someone can find a marriage and her last name.. that might help... as I have a Jane Laxton b. 1815 Paston whose father was Robert who married Alice Little. Thanks in advance to anyone who may offer some suggestions.

	Here are John and Jane in 1841 .......................... you probably didn't widen the search on his birth year. Ages on the 1841 Census for people over the age of 15 were usually rounded down to the nearest 5 ......... so he's showing as born in 1821. 	This is the only John Laxton and Jane marriage that I could find on freebmd ......................... it could be them! 	That William Laxton looks as though he is NOT a sibling of John this marriage is showing on ancestry, taking place in Yaxley just prior to the 1851 Census being taken England, Select Marriages, 1538–1973 about William Laxton Name: William Laxton Gender: Male Marriage Date: 19 Mar 1851 Marriage Place: Yaxley, Huntingdon, England Father: William Laxton <<<<<<<<<<<< Spouse: Elizabeth Stanger FHL Film Number: 1040732 Reference ID: p 62 and the reverse makes me think that they are lodging with Elizabeth's father in the 1851 ............. with his name being transcribed wrongly Name: Elizabeth Stanger Gender: Female Marriage Date: 19 Mar 1851 Marriage Place: Yaxley, Huntingdon, England Father: William Stanger <<<<<<<<<, Spouse: William Laxton FHL Film Number: 1040732 Reference ID: p 62 so, seemingly no connection

	Their first child was in fact William baptised on 12th April 1840 in Yaxley. Perhaps he died before the 1841 census. Mary Jane was baptised on 31st October 1841. They had another Mary Jane baptised on 17th March 1844 so again, the first girl possibly died. I have recently transcribed most of the Yaxley parish records for www.freereg.org.uk and many people don't realise that freereg does stop at 1837, many records are much later, unfortunately not marriages, though. There aren't that many references to Laxton around the time you are looking for.

	Ummm if she was born Jane Laxton in Northants, it is very unlikely that she married a Mr. Laxton from another county. Looks like we have all been barking up the wrong tree :-S
