The earliest Giots in Jersey go back to about 1560. If you give me some names to work with I can probably find out more for you.

Hi again, as i have said earlier, your help and assistance has been very much Appreciated.
The Giot side of my tree has been the difficult branch to follow.
Within the Family, I have heard a little about [Great] Granny Torode [Giot].
and what i ve heard makes them Giot's] sound very Mystique.
All the more reason for me to try and find out more about them and where they originated from.
The earliest Giot Ancestor that i know of is Constant Giot, and his wife Hylacie/ Aglacie, born about 1812 and 1819.
They were from somewhere in France. they had two sons George P, and Peter G.
I could go further down the tree, but for now i will leave it at that.
I am not familiar with the do's and dont's of family history, there was something that was posted about courtesy , If there is something that i have/not done that is a no no, i Apologize most sincerely. i hope that no one has been offended, by my actions.

No sign of a 'Peter' with this family..................are you sure that George P and Peter G are not the same person?

Nowhere do both names appear on the same record.........................and they both have the same birth year!

Thanks Reggie, that's saved me a lot of time hunting through census records - A is hopeless with French names.

As Constant is single in 41 and 51 there's a fair chance that they married here. Jersey marriage records show place of birth so I may be able to pin down whereabouts in France he came from as well as his wife's maiden name.

George Peter (and I agree, there is only one) married Elizabeth Sophie de la Haye round about 1878

Reggie, My information was collected by my Aunt who went to the Priaulx Library for her research. She had said that they did not have comprehensive Jersey information, She would have had to go there for that, [she lives in Southampton]
So, i have a copy of what she has put together.
Looking at what you People have passing on to me. I can see that im going to have to go over to Jersey and have a look, and also, i think that i also need to get in touch with the existing Giot Family over there as well, and see if they would be able to piece things together.
Jersey Lilily, i agree with you that George Peter married Elizabeth, [did not know her maiden name] that my Aunt believes was in Jersey. then, when he came across to Guernsey, he was married/ partnered to a Maria, which we find strange.
Ernest W, from what Family here have said, used to come and visit years ago, so if the Giot's in Jersey are his descendants, they may well know this.
