You could see if the baptism register was more informative than the brief transcript I already posted. The baptism may well be in the collection at the British Library, full details not transcribed on line as baptism less than 100 yrs ago:
First name(s) Edward Saxton Last name Tully Baptism year 1924 Birth year 1924 Place Secunderabad Presidency Madras Mother's first name(s) - Mother's last name - Father's first name(s) - Father's last name Tully Baptism date 1924 Birth date 1924 Archive reference N-2-135 Folio 98 Page - Catalogue descriptions Parish register transcripts from the Presidency of Madras Record set British India Office births & baptisms
http://indiafamily.bl.uk/ui/home.aspx
If you can't get to the British Library, they do a search for a fee, and can provide a certified copy of the baptism for £18.
"We offer a remote ecclesiastical search service for enquirers who are unable to visit our reading room. The Ecclesiastical Returns (copy registers of births/baptisms, marriages and burials of European and Eurasian Christians in India, Burma and territories controlled from India) held in this collection are not complete. We estimate that 20-30% of the returns are missing. Therefore with any search conducted there is the possibility of failure. Certified copies, i.e.. an official copy with the seal of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, can also be provided. The fees for Ecclesiastical Searches and Certificates are as follows: £36 per search for enquirers of EU countries (includes VAT) £30 per search for enquirers of non-EU countries £18 per certified copy"
I think the info from the baptism transcript can be reformatted as N/2/135/98 as required by the application form, saving the cost of the search.:
http://www.bl.uk/reshelp/findhelpregion/asia/india/indiaofficerecordsfamilyhistory/ecclesiasticapplication2010.pdf
but it might be useful to ring the number on the form: 0207 412 7642, to check, and ask any other questions you might have. You might also find they will take your order over the phone at that number.
I can't remember if you got Edward's marriage cert or not. That would presumably have the name of his father.

Thanks everyone for the information. Can i ask you all to give it a rest for a while as i have already placed a tick in the box. I now have a lot of typing to do with my two finger typing. I never did manage to use all my fingers even when i was typing up reports whilst in the Royal Navy. Best regards all.

Thank you for all that information Kucinta.
Now I have to put it all into the tree. My side is just as bad as my side of the family in the 1800's bred like flies on one tree I have more leads that people. Edward Tully is the right one according to the wife but she says that there are still two to find:- 1 Willomena Tully aka Aunty Willo married a guy with surname Howard. 2 James Tully . 3 Mary Philomena aka Aunty Philly besames an Edwards.
Sorry for not replying to your last but I have been out all day yesterday and today trying to catch an escaped bird of prey that still has its leash on and I was shattered.
Best regards Rick. ps keep the email address. If you are ever in France give me a shout and we could share a couple bottles of wine..

I agree Reggie, feedback needed.
At least we can now discount the Massachusetts couple who had exactly the same names as John Roach and Elizabeth White. Both are very common names.

If John Roach drummer and Elizabeth White are JAR's parents, this looks like the most likely baptism for him, even though no middle name, I believe I posted it previously but thread getting too long to check :-(
