Thank you everyone for your great efforts. I will certainly have a chat with my friend and spell out for her what she needs to do to clarify all this - deifnitely cert purchasing. Thanks again |

That would seem unlikely, to say the least |

So, it looks as if for some reason Elizabeth changed her name from Elizabeth Maybury to Lilian Clare between 1906 and 1911 and the two boys combined the surnames. |

Thank you everyone. One thing puzzles me - the birth reg and baptism of Alfred indicate born 1898 and on 1901 census supplied by Reggie young Alfred is 2 - that's fine. However the other two Maybury;'s on the census whom I gather are his parents are named as Alfred and Elizabeth yet on the baptism record it says 'child of Harry Maybury-clare and Lily. Are we to assume that there are in fact TWO Alfred Fearon Maybyury-clares ? |

The birth reg has him as Alfred F L; I guess the M in the marriage is for Maybury. |

As he didn't get baptised until the 1920's, he would have given the names himself.................not necessarily accurately. |

Does anybody else think that is odd that on Alfred's baptism his parents are given as Harry and Lily and yet on the census they are Alfred and Elizabeth? |

In my experience, adding another surname tended to be as a result of being promised a legacy............but that relates only to families which I have researched. |
