Hi Gillian,

I think I have managed to rule out the James baptised 1815 in Bream although his father was Richard, he was a Miner.

I have been all around the houses with this one and I don't have any precise answers for you but....

I think Ann is quite likely to be his sister as there is a James Nash as a witness when she marries Samuel Sandford, she also says her father Richard and a Lab.
We can see her in 1851 as a Much Marcle birth abt 1818

The John with her in 1841 I think may be her brother, there is one Baptised 1831 Brooms Green to Richard and Mary but I can't find the parents in the Census so somewhere along the line there are two Richard and Mary Nash listed which are not all one family.

Not much help to you I know!

Kind regards
Amanda

Edit: Might be worth following up on the Baptism's of Mary Ann 1820 and Eliza 1823 in Preston by Ledbury as possible siblings for James on the Forest of Dean site, Mary Ann is of Great Marcle and Eliza of Dymock which puts the family in the right area.

Thank you Amanda for your help......( sorry im a bit late in replying )....
I think that you are correct - there does seem to be two Richard & Mary Nash families ( not related ) and its very difficult to find MY James Nash & his wife Ann Hunt families......

Im sure that I will keep coming back to this one!

Hannah is shown as Hunt in the 1851 census aged 51 from Ashperton.

She has 3 children - all with the name Hunt - Ann 1818, William 1823, James 1830 - However, I am not sure if Hunt is her married name or whether or not she was ever actually married???

On her daughters marriage, Ann shows her father as John Southall - a farmer - but Ive yet to find a Hannah Hunt / John Southall marriage....so perhaps she was born out of wed-lock?
