HI
Jeremiah YORK b1828 lambeth london was a bit of a bad boy. july 1848 convicted of assault with his cousin James but now have found another article 23 april 1848 jeremiah and thomas York assault.
he was also convicted twice in 1855. can anyone help me find out the details of these crimes especially the one with thomas i found the article in the british newspapers here on GR but nothing else :-( can anyone help please i would so love to know more about this naughty chap!!! many thanks Helen

thanks Gins bit confused by 'same crime' at the bottom of the page? or does this refer to the fact they were both larcency? 1st one he got 4mths and 2nd he got 12 mths. the 2 1848 ones were assault?? can't see him on a census after 1861 when he is living in Southwark with his wife Ann and 4 children or a death date :-( thanks for your help!!!

Can you post that 1861 census please - the only Jeremiah I'm picking up is in Shoreditch with wife Caroline and 4 kids

oooh choccy that's a bad mistranscription!!! yes the right family is listed correctly on ancestry though i couldn't see it under jeremiah and searched for his son george. goodness knows how they got MArk out of that???????? should have gone to specsavers lol

I can tell it's York, but I can see from the original how someone could possibly make it Mark. Have put in an amendment to FMP

Can't find any of them 1871/81.
George 1852-1900 married 26/1/1885 so they must have been about.

Thomas Henry York @ 1855 Woolwich kent married 3/10/1881 of 9 Dale street.
Married Jane turner her dad George William Turner deceased.
His dad Jeremiah York a fireman does not say deceased!

Married St marks Church Walworth.

@Mary Jane must be a cousin as his mother was a turner before marriage!! thanks also for Georges marriage i didn't have that!

thanks for the death Gins this def could be her! i have a poss death for the youngest child Eliza b1857 died March 1861 lambeth 1d 251
no sign of the eldest child Elizabeth Ann b 1850 shoreditch post 1861 either maybe she married and dad is with her.......

George married in Bermondsey to Harriet Wallineer she died 1901.
On marriage record it says George is a Leather dresser and Jeremiah York a sailor.
I wonder if he was fireman on a boat.

1891 george is a fishmonger........ and has 2 children rosa 3 and joseph 8 mths wonder what happened to the children as within 10yrs both their parents were dead :-( (1891 ref RG12 / 378)
