Karen, you ask us to keep our comments to ourselves - well, that will also include posts which may have helped you.

You say the comments are "hurtful" - have you considered that you are being hurtful to people by deleting the information that they spent a lot of time (not to mention using their own subscriptions) finding for you?

We are all enthusiastic amateurs who use our subscriptions to this and other sites (which we subscribe to willingly for our own purposes) to help those who do not have access. We give our time and our access freely.

There is nothing more frustrating to spend huge amounts of time coming up with ideas/answers only to find the poster deletes the thread.

Actually there IS something more frustrating...it's the same poster then asking for much the same info again in a new thread.

You say threads get deleted because "there (sic) old news"....fine. So don't ask again.

And as for your impertinent comment "I won't be spoken to like a naughty child" I would say

(a) then don't act like one

(b) try reading the site Ts & Cs

and

(c) stop asking for help because with responses such as these, you very soon won't get help.

You need to comply with site guidelines. They are for YOUR benefit, as much as anyone else's

And deleting threads which have info is one of the absolute "no-no's"

I'll take a look on freebmd I started my family tree many years ago and have most of the info on my family tree which I keep in a folder it's just on the odd occassion a query turns up that's when I ask for your help thats why threads get deleted because there old news.

You are not helping your cause by deleting threads to which people have posted info.

The one highlighted above now doesn't exist.

People will not want to try to help someone who doesn't appear to appreciate their efforts

My Grandfather John Henry Mardlin b 1894 in Harlington Middx please could you look further into Jack Mardlin because his daughter/son both remember a Jack Mardlin so he must exsist???
Were there ever any twins born in the family? because a few years ago I came across William Mardlin and Jack Mardlin b1877 in Harlington middx on Find my Past unfortunatly I can't find them now.

?? I don't understand this last exchange. We tried to help you but a thread with quite a lot of information was deleted, with no acknowledgement of the info supplied. Especially as many of the trees on ancestry have latched onto the wrong death details.

I have tried to be understanding, and even added my two-penneth (for what it's worth) to this thread even though you deleted your previous thread on which I had done quite a lot of research - as had others. But by having multiple threads on the same family does duplicate research and uses members time - which they give up willingly to try to help people when they can.

And yes Margee - WOW!!! This is so uncalled for.
