Thankyou all for the information.I am aware of the first family from Williams marriage to Mary who was my great grandma. There were three children William(my granda) born in 1910 Winnie 1912 and Rachel 1914. My great granda William was in WW1 and invalided out in 1914 after the death of his first wife Mary he went to France with second wife Louisa around 1922 as he was given a job looking after the war graves as a gardener. John Andrew Fred and Audrey were all born there, they returned to Brampton around 1928/9. |

I'm afraid it looks as if we have hit the same brick wall as you have, Carol. |

If Audrey was born in 1926, and they returned to Brampton in 1929, she would have been about 3. So it is not that she would have had strong ties to France. |

Do you, or any of your family, have a copy of Audrey's birth cert, Carol, to verify her name? |

If Audrey was born 1926, the 1940 marriage is too early, and we have been told she was not married by 1947, so that 1942 marriage no good either. And she would have been 16 or under. Unless some of the information wrong, |

There's only one Barry Irvine (or variation) birth in Scotland 1940-60, anf that's in 1953 - too late. |

I'm inclined to think the Carlisle marriage listed by Patchem is more likely. Can not imagine there would be any connection with Lambeth. Will try and follow this lead. Nothing from any wills as Audreys father died suddenly in 1932 when she was only small and as far as I am aware her mother had no will. It would be great to have a birth cert, but as she was born in France it makes it a bit more difficult to obtain. The other possibility of a marriage in Scotland also possible as Brampton is very close to the border. Its like having a part of a jig saw missing but I will plod on. |

This is the only Audrey Lawrence marriage in Scotland 1940-60 - and nowhere near the border!: |
