The 1837 Rego Districts were largely based on the poor-law unions. Here's some lookups from: Samuel Lewis (editor) A Topographical Dictionary of England 1848 Seventh edition. http://www.british-history.ac.uk/source.aspx?pubid=445
ENFIELD (St. Andrew), a parish, in the union and hundred of Edmonton, county of Middlesex, 10 miles (N. by E.) from London; containing 9367 inhabitants.
NAZEING (All Saints), a parish, in the union of Epping, hundred of Waltham, S. division of Essex, 5¼ miles (N. W.) from Epping; containing 824 inhabitants. The parish is separated from the county of Hertford by the river Lea, and comprises 3890a.
Using http://maps.familysearch.org/ here are the lookups for the parishes adjacent to Nazeing - working clockwise from 12 o'clock:
ROYDON (St. Peter), a parish, in the union of Epping, partly in the hundred of Waltham, but chiefly in that of Harlow, S. division of Essex; containing 976 inhabitants, of whom 313 are in the hamlet, 5 miles (S. E. by E.) from Ware. The parish is separated from the county of Hertford by the river Stort, and comprises 2995a.
PARNDON, GREAT, a parish, in the union of Epping, hundred of Harlow, S. division of Essex, 3½ miles (S. W. by W.) from Harlow; containing 417 inhabitants. It comprises about 2000 acres of land, in a high state of cultivation.
EPPING (All Saints), a town and parish, and the head of a union, chiefly in the hundred of Waltham, but partly in that of Harlow, S. division of Essex, 17½ miles (W. by S.) from Chelmsford, and 16¾ (N. E. by N.) from London, on the road to Newmarket; containing 2424 inhabitants.
WALTHAM-ABBEY, or Holy-Cross (Holy Cross and St. Lawrence), a market-town and parish, in the union of Edmonton, hundred of Waltham, S. division of Essex; containing, with the hamlets of Holyfield, Sewardstone, and Upshire, 4177 inhabitants, of whom 2041 are in the town, 23½ miles (W. by S.) from Chelmsford, and 12½ (N. by E.) from London.
CHESHUNT (St. Mary), a parish, and formerly a market-town, in the union of Edmonton, hundred and county of Hertford, 8 miles (S. by E.) from Hertford; containing, with Cheshunt-street, Waltham-Cross, and Woodside wards, 5402 inhabitants.
WORMLEY (St. Lawrence), a parish, in the union of Ware, hundred and county of Hertford, 2¼ miles (N. by E.) from Cheshunt; containing 500 inhabitants. The Eastern Counties railway, and the New River, pass through the parish; and the river Lea bounds it on the east.
BROXBOURN (St. Augustine), a parish, in the union of Ware, hundred and county of Hertford; containing, with the chapelry of Hoddesdon, part of which is in the parish of Great Amwell, 2386 inhabitants.
HODDESDON, a market-town and chapelry, partly in the parish of Great Amwell, but chiefly in that of Broxburn, union of Ware, hundred and county of Hertford, 4¼ miles (S. E.) from Hertford, and 17 (N. by E.) from London; containing 1743 inhabitants.

Hello mgnv
Thank you for that information - it helps me to understand how a carpenter might have needed to travel into Hertfordshire to find work.

Just to update - I have the birth cert - and MMN is Prior.
So now I have been able to locate a marriage - in Whitechapel - in June Qtr 1841 (Whitechapel Vol 2, page 461), which is looking like them.

Hi JannieAnnie, Have you been able to trace your family back further now?
It looks as though the baptism Alemap posted for John Wilson in Nazeing with the father George, is probably the right one.
Have you seen this?
Baptism for Enfield - Edmonton All Saints - 21st April 1816
Elizabeth Prior - parents Isaac & Sarash - abode Palmers Green - labourer gardener
|
There's also a Sarah baptised 1814 (same details); Henry bap.1818 (same details); Matilda bap. 1819 Enfield - parents Isaac & Sarah - abode Southgate - coachman and Lucy bap. 1822 - parents Isaac & Sarh - above Tottenham - coachman
|
I wonder if this is also them?
Baptised at Clapham, where they had a very efficient vicar or clerk, who asked for extra details.
Baptised 20th July 1827 - Emma (5th daughter) and Sophia (6th daughter) both born 26th June 1827. Parents Isaac and Sarah (maiden name Clark) - coachman
|
Enfield St.Andrew - 4th November 1813
Marriage between: Isaac Pryor - bachelor and Sarah Clarke - spinster
Witnesses: Thomas Young and Susanna Prior
|
Afternoon Christina
Yes it looks like the Alemap posting is the correct family of Wilsons and No I haven't gone any further back with the Priors yet so I appreciate the baptisms you have found - they certainly look as if they fit in with everything else.
I know it is likely to get more difficult now as I am getting back before 1837
Thank you

NEW QUERY
Just trying to track another from my Wilson Group
I had (I thought) the whole collection of grandchildren of Charles Wilson 1860 but it seems that there was another granddaughter:
Births Mar 1918 (>99%) Wilson Eliza A Owen Hackney 1b [6_]13
It seems she died "aged about 14" according to information recently received, so I am looking for her death record.
I have searched for any deaths of Eliz* Wilson 1912 to 1940, concentrating on Hackney (considering any in Poplar, Bethnal Green). Expecting a death circa 1932, all I managed to come up with was an Elizabeth F aged 16 died Poplar Sep 1932 but there was an Elizabeth F birth in Poplar Dec 1915, so discounted that death. The only other one which could be possible (but area and anticipated age are inconsistent with my information) is
Deaths Dec 1926 (>99%) Wilson Eliza 8 Wandsworth 1d 600
Any suggestions/ideas please?
Thank you

We would look on FreeBMD and only come up with the same I think .
Depending where the girl was when she died would be the area registration.she may not have been at home but in hospital which may come under another district ,
For instance my grandfather lived. In S E London but died in 1941 in a Middlesex hospital where he had been transferred to for more specialist treatment
|
Hi Shirley~
Thank you, yes, that is what crossed my mind - I know they lived close to a Hospital (E London) but couldn't immediately see another Hospital in Wandsworth Reg - will do some more checking on the Reg District for Wandsworth and trawl through more 'lost hospitals', might just have to consider the death cert for the 8 year old. At least I have found her birth - I still have some 'small deceaseds' who are 'name unknown' to try to find!
