Looking for my gr gr great grandfathers first son William Bisset born c1833 Edinburgh Midlothian, his mother was Elizabeth Douglas.. No birth record traced, he was listed on the 1841 census with his parents William and Elizabeth and a sister Elizabeth born Perth c1835. His father William remarried Alice Annan and she is listed as his mother on the 1851 census, William is aged 18 and a jeweller (same as his father) Alice has died and William Snr married Jane Turpie. But there is no sign of son William... Can anyone help? |

Mmm I don't suppose I will, but can you see him in 1861 (perhaps he has married) have tried looking for a death, giving his mothers surname but nothing comes up. :-0 |

This one sounds promising tho, could they have mistranscribed Duff for Douglas?? :-| |

If that birth had his fathers occupation as "jeweller" then we would be definitely on the right track. |

according to the 1841 census he was born circa 1835, so the birth in 1832 is a good 3 years out... :-S |

Unlikely to have an occupation for his father - although occasionally OPRs give father's occupation. Also unlikely that Douglas mistranscribed as Duff. |

Hi Maureen, I have found the 1881 census, but have been trying to locate him on the 1871 to try and find out who he married and if there are any children .. Cant seem to find him in 1891 although I see the family he boarded with. |
