Don't forget, age of over fifteens in census 1841 was rounded down to nearest five years, so John could have been born in later 1770s. |

I am trying to find John Wraighte's (sometimes spelt Wraight) siblings and parents to be able to look further back into my ancestry. He is currently at the top of my tree. I think he married Sarah Brown (? also born 1781) in 1799 at St Mary of Charity Church in Faversham. They had 5 sons born in Faversham (Winford Brown 1800, John 1801, Thomas 1805, George Brown 1806, George Winford 1815, this info is from family members). I am a descendent from John 1801, but do not know if any of his brothers married or how long or where they lived. John 1781 worked as a gardener and lived on West st southside Faversham in 1841 census and may have lived and worked in Maidstone workhouse in 1851 census (but census states birth place as Maidstone so may not be the same John). He may have died 1862 but unsure of this and where he is buried. Also the middle name 'Brown' crops up a lot in my tree but also in other 'wraight' trees from kent dated further back than sarah brown 1781 (but not linked to my tree at present), so not sure where this name originates from. If anyone can fill in any of the many gaps in my family history as above, I would be extremely grateful as I cannot seem to get any further than this. Jane |
