the son who died was his beloved... its my guess it was his eldest.. From what I was told, he either worked or was apprentice on the docks. He apprentley dived into the Thames near a boat, to retrieve something but was caught in an undertow. This lead to Georges uncontrollable grief and I think he went into a decline and lost his job as foreman. Again, heresay. it sort of fits the story with him then turning up as a coal porter again! |
