Hello, I am looking for the marriage of John Byers to Maria ???? John born October 1793 Little Stainton and Maria born 1812 (16 year difference) at Over Dinsdale, near Darlington. There is one on FMP for Co Durham 1832. In 1851 they are Maiden Dale Farm, Morton Palms, Aycliffe, Co Durham. Thanks.

Hello Alvie, the marriage is John Byers to Maria Dixon because on the 1881 census (the only one I can access, it being free) Maria is living with her sister Ann Dixon but it says Ann is a widower (this should probably say widow) so I didn't think her surname would be Dixon. I did look on FreeBMD for the marriage but I must have input it wrong because it wasn't showing up. I've just tried it again and sure enough it's there. Sorry for wasting your time but thank you.

That's ok Marian. Here they are in 1871 as well, next door to each other. They are both widows and are 'retired persons.'
