Is there anyway to find the original birth surname from an adoption certificate. I have the adoption certificate showing adoption as Hilda Elizabeth Turner born 1915 adopted 1930. I would be grateful for any help with this. Harvey Charles Cawley |

Only if you are the person concerned, and you can obtain access to the adoption records. |

Are you referring to your Mother, as this looks like your parents' marriage? |

Not sure you would be able to get a full cert though, i.e. one showing parents? |

What name was she known by before her adoption - or did she never tell you? |

I did assume she was adopted informally prior to 1930 as the adoption act was not passed till 1927 my mother died in 1964 before I was interested in geneology and weas not aware my mother had been adopted Joe & Elsie turner had no other children Harvey |

Looking at that birth that Reggie posted as being the most likely in Lancs. I wonder if these were the parents? |

The only marriage for Joseph and Elsie I can find is in 1913 and her name is Depalma/Dipalma. And I cannot find anything else on the Deplama family |
