hi looking for Thomas Poole b1885 eastbourne east sussex and his wife Alice b1888 eastbourne and their children james b 1905 david b1907 still living in eastbourne. I'm told Thomas died in ww1 but can't see that either :-( suspect they are mistranscribed somewhere! thomas and alice married in 1905 eastbourne and on the 1901 he is living at 10 vine square eastbourne with his parents and sister.

mmmmmm that's weird because in 1918 thomas and alice have a son Walter ronald beeney poole. alices' death in 1966 matches what i have this is weird!

Walter Ronald would have his mother's surname of Poole but with the middle name of her future husband ...... ????


Walter Beeney's wife Susan Hannah Swain died in 1927 so maybe Alice and he were only free to marry once he was widowed

i have all their dates of death but alas no note to say where the info came from grrrrrrrr this is really very strange!

On the CWGC site if a casualty military record was available the person would be named as son of or husband of .

Some casualties were claimed much later on by next of kin and the connection would be named. have seen some where he is given as husband of and the wife's new surname as she had remarried / formerly !!

ie john smith the husband of Jane Jones formerly Smith . so the connection had been claimed much later .

I am in the process of claiming my hubbys uncle who died in 1918 and he isnt shown connected to the family

They are notes on someone's tree on Ancestry ( even has a photo of the house 55 Leslie Street )

However, never take it at face value until you've checked it out.
