Find Ancestors

I have a Sophia Orme in my family tree, she married Samuel Wall. I think she was born abt 1821, in the London area, they got married about 1839 in Whitechapel, I think. her parents were: Henry Orme, and perhaps Hannah ? Need someone to confirm this and perhaps go back a bit further from Henry and Hannah... Who were Samuel Wall parents ? He was born abt 1819 in Shoreditch or nearby area. (Henry Orme was born abt 1801.)

You say marriage "about 1839" - have you checked on FreeBMD?

I'm not too sure about this baptism, but am posting if just for elimination:

Baptised same day was a sibling Henry Philip.

There's a note in the margin that says "reported born 1 October 1820" - it looks like this refers to both siblings.

What I'm not sure about is the father's occupation.

So, Samuel Wall father was also called Samuel Wall, who did he marry ?

The address is Wick Hy, same as the baptism above.

But, what is odd that this baptism is 1821 and the other 2 were 1823 baptisms of babies reportedly born 1820. Why would you have one baptised that was born in the interim and not the other 2? (Unless this one wasn't expected to survive).

Also, there are 2 different mother's names - did Henry remarry?

Or is it all just coincidence with the names?

Daniel Orme must be a brother of Sophia Orme.

Graham - if you go to your very first post there should be a purple button that says "mark this as unanswered" - click that.

It's a bit daft the way it works, it would seem to make sense to click on a response that has answered your query BUT it marks the whole thread as answered if you look on the main board index.

According to a tree on Ancestry, Henry Orme and Hannah Bent were the parents of the Henry Orme b1799 who married Elizabeth Binns and fathered Sophia.

The Daniel baptism is Sophia's uncle, not her sibling.

As they all seemed to marry young, it's quite feasible.

So, Sophia Orme parents were: Henry Orme and Elizabeth Binns. Henry Orme parents were: Henry Orme and Hannah Bent, not sure if I like that surname lol

I wish they could have been a bit more original with their kids names, our Henrys could get very muddled!

Not finding that marriage yet, perhaps the witness of Martha Wall might be a clue? (But it could be a sibling).

Martha Wall I've seen her mentioned in a connection with my family line... yes, she was one of the children of Samuel Wall and Sophia Orme, just remembered. Regarding the surname: Bent could it be Bates or Bennett ?

So, MC at this moment we are pretty sure Sophia Orme parents were: Henry Orme and Elizabeth Binns.

GH - look again at the marriage I posted above for Samuel Wall and Sophia Orme, one of the witnesses was a Martha Wall. That couldn't be their daughter!

On there, you can search and view public Ancestry trees and also contact tree owners. You could give that a try and ask the tree owner where they got their information from. They have no sources attached for the Henry Orme/Elizabeth Binns marriage, nor the Henry Orme/Hannah Bent (why would the name be something else, that is a proper surname?)
