We did have his army number 413 .... I never noticed that on the 1911 census.

If they can change regiments then that must be John on 1901 census.

Hope you are more successful than me on the army records I couldn't find John on Ancestry's army records.

That explains a lot it was known that Annie came from Youghal, on 1911 census she stated Ardmooe, Waterford Resident, and for daughter Eileen it stated Newbridge, Kildare Resident her birth was in Apr-May-Jun 1907
Registration district: Naas

All I can tell you about Annie is that her father is Michael Cotter decd by 1915 occupation general labourer and we think she had a sister Hannah.

I think Annie was her name not a nickname as she used it on the census, electoral list and marriage cert.

Can anyone tell me why some of the Soldiers on the 1901 census for the Shorncliffe Military camp in Kent were called 'inmate'

Shorncliffe Camp contains a military hospital. Maybe the 'inmates' were actually patients.

Karen.... (1901) Abt 95% of the Camp where listed as inmates....possibly just a term they used ....

Thanks for the link seems to be a problem with the site as all I see is blank pages.

I checked about 40 soldiers names from the 1901 census in Shorncliffe to see what regiments they belonged to in 1911, only found one soldier in the Loyal North Lancashire's. So I'm assuming that because they were both in the same camp in 1901 different camps in 1911 but same regiment that I have the right person on the 1901 census.
