Unfortunately Nikhila/Jean has posted a message on a thread not offering lookups.

"I am searching for the father of James Charles Dunbar.
Charles was married in 1887 in West Derby Liverpool to Mary Caroline
Tatlock. I am unable to go any further . I would be very grateful for any.. help you can give."
Jean

I'm completely at a loss to understand - Could somebody explain why GB started this thread on behalf of Jean without her authority when she obviously took the hint and started her own thread.

That is going a tad to far.

If it had happened to me I would have been very annoyed and reported it.

patchem

patchem Report 2 Apr 2013 20:50

GB stated that Jean posted on a thread not offering lookups, and that she (Jean) has put 'I would be very grateful for any.. help you can give'

So surely that is what we are doing, and once we have found the thread that is accepting look-ups we have transferred the information over.

The information I posted on here at 17.31 was because I could not post to the first link given.

Why would that annoy anyone when we are helping them?

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 2 Apr 2013 20:53

NanaSue, I think you're over-reacting. What is wrong with helping someone out?

The other thread was started way before this one so Jean was obviously struggling.

GlitterBaby

GlitterBaby Report 2 Apr 2013 20:56

So trying to be helpful is now a crime is it !!!!!

When I started this thread Jean had not started her own one but as I have already explained she had added to a thread that was not offering lookups.

I wonder why I and other helpers bother when there are others who seem to think they are more capable but do not help on the boards

I do not always check to see if a duplicate thread had been started so missed it

But it seems to be open season to have a go at me at the moment

that's just NanaSue being NanaSue :-D :-D :-D

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 2 Apr 2013 21:04

NanaSue.

I am afraid you are not privy to the whole story, whilst I am.

No one has to explain anything to you to be honest, so there is absolutely no need for you to be at a loss.

From what I know, I very much doubt that Jean would RR a thread which is aimed at helping her.

Cx.

No problems.

NanaSue actually complained on another thread about the 'board police'

She seems to do nothing but find fault.......................

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 2 Apr 2013 22:40

I would just LOVE to know ...........

......... just who is / are the Board Police?

accusations are thrown around, but with no evidence or proof provided.

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 2 Apr 2013 22:55

I'd just like to say to Jean - please don't be put off asking for help on these boards. We honestly do really enjoy helping people break down their brick walls, find missing relatives and generally get the best use out of these boards. That's what GB was doing by setting up this thread.

Unfortunately, as in any walk of life, there are a very small minority of people who like to stir things up.

Rest assured that it's by no means the majority.
