soooo??

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 30 Mar 2013 12:11

So either Catherine died before he married Isabella, or it's a different Felix!
But it's an unusual name.

ArgyllGran Report 30 Mar 2013 12:16

These are the only marriages in Scotland between a Felix and an Isabella, between 1855 and 1870.

1861 CORRIGAN FELIX MCFARLANE ISABELLA ABBEY BURGH /RENFREW 559/01 0127

1867 MCGACHAN FELIX ANDERSON ISABELLA DUNDEE THIRD DISTRICT DUNDEE CITY/ANGUS 282/03 0041

And only one in the old parish registers on SP.

13/07/1832 CROMBIE FELIX ISABELLA SHANKS/FR1227 1538 (FR1227) M NEILSTON /RENFREW 572/00 0050 0111

Its a very unusual name till you put it on IGI and then
its something else.
Would like to find his birth in Ireland.
Thanks again for your help and to all who gave their
time in this. Will pass this on to my friend and see what he thinks.

In the image for the 1861 census posted by Gins on page 1, the handwriting's terrible, but there are also some changes.

Felix's surname could be either McCarron or McCarson, and his first name was first entered as Peter, then crossed out and changed to Felix. He's listed as a lodger at the address. Wonder if Peter's an alternative name, or just a mistake?

Isabella Carson - could be Carron (or McCarron with the Mc missed out.)
She was first listed as his wife, then that's been crossed out and changed to Lodger.
But both are listed as married, so she presumably was his wife.

His occupation is hard to decipher, but might be Hawker.

Yes I thought that also and thought hawker of stoneware
as was listed as stoneware merchant on 1851 census.
