HELP!! I am trying to trace my late mother's cousins, one who married an American and the other for whom I have no info. My maternal grandmother's older sister, EMILY BLACKSHAW (born 1871 - Holbeck, Leeds) married NOAH BLAND, (born 1868 - Londonthorpe, Grantham, Lincolnshire). They married in Hunslet, Leeds, West Yorkshire, Q2 of 1891. They had 2 children that I know of: CLIFFORD BLAND, born 1897 and EDITH, EMILY BLAND born 1899. They appear in the 1901 Census living in Wigton, Leeds. I cannot trace any of them in the 1911 Census, and so I don't know if there were further children but it's for these cousins that I'm seeking info. I have no marriage record for either child. My late mother wrote to a cousin named EDITH who lived in Hollywood, Florida USA from about 1925 to around 1980. I don't know if it's the same Edith (i.e. Bland) as I don't know her maiden name. Her husband was in the US armed forces (possibly a marine or a sailor) and he had the distinctive name of WILLIAM RANDOLPH CHURCHILL. I think I have traced both their deaths which are recorded as: EDITH CHURCHILL born 7th April 1899, died 27th February 1981, Broward, Florida, age 82. WILLIAM RANDOLPH CHURCHILL, born 10th January 1898, died 30th March 1976, Broward, Florida, age 78. This ties in with my childhood recollections of my Mum's cousin. But here's a mystery I cannot solve: I don't know where they married - England no trace; USA however - there's a record on Family Search website William R Churchill b.1898 married Edith B. HATCH and lists her parents as HARRY and EMILY BLAND (?!) Was Noah Bland known as Harry perhaps? Was Edith married before to a Mr Hatch, or did she have a name change. No trace of this possible previous marriage either! If someone can point me in the right direction I'd be very grateful.

It's a bit odd because on the marriage record, it states that Noah's Father is Joseph Bland.........and yet on all the census records for Noah Bland born 1868 Londonthorpe, Lincolnshire, his Father appears to be William.
This is the 1871 census and Noah has a Brother Tom........A Tom Bland is a witness to Noah's Marriage......

Hi Marie
I have probably confused things on here by posting info regarding Lily Blackshaw who i thought......on first reading the OP, was the cousin that John was seeking information about.
But after re-reading the OP...i realised that Lily was actually John's maternal Grandmother.
Sorry for the confusion.

Thank you so much PricklyHolly, Marie Celeste/Thelma!! Clever U! You have discovered I have another great aunt - Lilly Bland (two L's), To clearup the confusion: Emily Bland (nee Blackshaw) is the sister of my grandmother, Lily Annal (one L - nee Blackshaw). My mother is Winifred Pick (nee Annal) and I am John, Melvyn Pick. I'm really impressed with your research. Mystery solved - of course they emigrated!! It has also jolted a memory from my childhood about relations in Canada and I recall reading letters from Edith sent to my Mum from Florida where she mentions Lilian and occasionally Norm - who I now realise was Randolph's brother. It is now a complete mystery how Edith E Bland came to be Edith B Hatch! Was Edith married before she married W R Churchill? Perhaps the B stands for Bland and was mistaken for an unusual middle name when it was in fact a double-barreled surname? Who knows? They obviously moved from Canada to Boston USA. They ended up in Hollwood Florida for the last 20 or more years of their lives, and I think the address was Pierce Street if my memory is accurate. Can you help me any more?
