So William Percy G Course (1886) stays in London with his Mother Annie, so needs finding in 1891.
Annie marriages Mr Partridge?
As Harry Partridge is born in 1878, he is not a son of Annie but of Mr Partridge and a previous wife?

Annie's first wedding:
Marriages Sep 1875
COURSE Albert Cambridge 3b 835
TURNER Anne Cambridge 3b 835

so does Annie then marry Mr Herniman and then Mr Partridge (1897)?

Albert Course Age: 34 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1857 Relation: Head Married Gender: Male Where born: Cambridgeshire, England
correct

correct

Albert Course 34 ------ggfather

Ernest Course 14------son
George Course 11------son

harry partridge who died in 1974 bournemouth
father Herniman? (possibly~~) if mr Herniman is in the loop,
he i believe commited suicide in the river Lee

however
Anne aged 2 in 1881 census and
william p born 1886 and his step brother harry partridge
seemed to have stayed together.

i also just put that Alfred died in 1955 and was listed as deceased in 1911. this information is from the marriage cert of my grandfather william p course
in brighton (why is this??)

all very intriguing

He is not necessarily referring to his Father but to his step-father as being deceased in 1911.

Added:
And/or Annie has told him that his Father is dead, otherwise how could she marry Mr Partridge.

So is this the George Dixon referred to?

British Army WWI Pension Records 1914-1920

Age at enlistment: 19

Father = Albert, wife = Grace Charlotte Manson?

According to the records, Albert was living at 11 Calcutta Road when George enlisted in 1899

Graham, when I'm doing my own research I tend to ignore family lore and put it on the back burner. Once I've established hard facts by finding and verifying records I then use the family stories to put the meat on the bones. Very often there are inconsistencies between what has been told and what is correct. :-)

If the father is ALBERT Course, then who is ALFRED?
(Would someone explain to me in easy words?! - perhaps I shouldn't have had that extra glass last night!)

Albert's birth year is way out on this 1901 but it's definitely the address referred to on his son's service records:

CRIBB, Mary A Head Widow F 55 1846 Newsagent Kingwood, Hampshire
CRIBB, Thomas Son Single M 23 1878 Dock Labourer Sittingbourne, Kent
COURSE, Albert Boarder Single M 58 1843 Dock Labourer Cambridge
ENDLE, George Boarder Single M 60 1841 Dock Labourer Cambridge
BLANCHARD, William Boarder Single M 56 1845 Engineers Labourer Bromley, London

Piece: 1661 Folio: 98 Page: 33

So was Anne a bigamist?

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 10 Mar 2013 12:36

Re: the 1901 that Patchem posted above, I do think that's the right one. I've looked at the other John & Anne (and variants) Partridges on the 1901 and the birthplaces just don't fit. The clincher is her mother Anne Turner living with them.

But there is no mention of a Harry born 1878? Harry is very often a nickname for Henry but the lad of that name with the family was born 1888?

EDIT: Is Percy Partridge on the 1901 actually Percy Course recorded under stepfather's name?

MarieCeleste Report 10 Mar 2013 12:39

If George and William's father is Albert and not Alfred then this must be the correct death?:

England & Wales, Death Index, 1916-2006
Name: Albert E Course
Birth Date: abt 1850
Date of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec 1923
Age at Death: 73

Graham - can you give us the details of the death that you have noted for the father of William and George?

patchem

patchem Report 10 Mar 2013 12:59

This could be birth of John Partridge - if that Eastnor Herefordshire in 1901 is correct place, but age out:
Births Mar 1846
Partridge John Ledbury 26 195

If Annie married as Herniman, have we found that marriage or her in 1891??

I think this is John Partridge and first wife in 1891 (his wife is actually 39)

If John and Emily are together in the 1891 then I don't think the two lads on the 1901 census are his sons.

I'm blowed if I can find Annie and those two boys in 1891.
