Charlotte Fooks Married Peter Hallett and had a number of children. Sadly Peter died in 1846. Charlotte Hallett then moved in with her brother Charles Fooks and is there with her younger children, including my great grandmother, Emma Charlotte Fooks Hallett in 1851 and 1861. In 1862, Charles Fooks murdered his cousin and neighbour Daniel Joseph Stone (b 1831). I would like to know what the cousin connection is exactly. What is the exact connection between this Fooks family and this Stone family. Who were the mother and father of Charlotte Hallett (nee Fooks) and the mother of Daniel Joseph Stone (Hannah - in the census). I would be very grateful for any help here. |

I know this won't be your Charlotte, but found it interesting that there was a baptism that had both surnames mentioned: |

Numerous newspaper reports of the time mention the execution of Charles Fooks at Dorchester county gaol for the murder 29 August 1862 of Daniel Joseph Stone, his cousin. |

I may need to retrack. I know that Daniel Joseph Stone wsa a cousin of Charlotte Fooks and Charles Fooks her brother. They were neighbouring farmers when Charlotte was staying with Charles. It is the exact Stone relationship that I am looking for. Which parents turned them into cousins - so to speak? |

The connection must obviously have been before the birth of Daniel & Charles & Charlotte. |

Yes, thanks you , it is the newspapers which told me about the 'cousin' relationship. There are a lot of Halletts, Stones and Fooks in the Dorset area - and it is not easy to be certain which is which . |

Thanks that is true. Cousin - can be read several ways. Peter and Charlotte's daughter, was called Emma Charlotte Fooks Hallett - which made me think that her mother may have been Fooks This Lady was my great grandmother, who emigrated to Australia in 1865 and married Christian Pedersen |

There's a good clue to Daniel's mother in the middle name of his sister in the 1851: |
