strange thing is though..can't find a death between 1881 and 1891 for Henry that fits with age....and can't find TWO Henry Ferris' born Dauntsey Wiltshire (one 1838/9 one 1844) before marriage to Fanny that would fit with one marrying Fanny and then dying and one being alive and widowed in Mile End from 1891 onwards :-S

I am wondering if Henry and Fanny parted and she said she was a widow to get parish releif.
I did find a death of a Henry Ferris in Surrey and looked up the probate but there was no mention of Fanny just a solicitors I think. That was 1886 which would fit with Fanny being a widow in 1891.
I had a message from John saying he dos'nt know anymore about Henry but that which he put in his first posting.
His grandfather is Henry James Ferris 1875 and this could be the link to Henry if his father was a James Ferris. Henry giving his father name to his son as a second name.

Dear All
Many many thanks for all these responses to my search for details on Henry and Fanny Ferris. I had found some of them and some particularly re Fanny Wakefield in London I found most useful. Establishing definite details prior to my grandfather Henry James Ferris, I find most frustrating.
