Hi Cane, it says what you already know.

Tidings are required of Josiah Crook; last heard of in South America, Dec 4, 1890. He left manchester in Nov 1888 and worked on the Anglo-Chili Nitrate railway Co, Tocopilla, Chili (sic) as a blacksmith--- the enquirer is his daughter, Mary Elizabeth Crook 20, Canning Street, Woodward street, Ancoats, Manchester.

BeverleyW Report 27 Jan 2013 22:15

But if she was Josiah's widow and then married Richard, she would have been a Crook...

I see that in 1891 Richard is down as 'Uncle', could he be Josiah's brother?

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 27 Jan 2013 22:12

But she wouldn't have been called Mary Crook when she married him?
