Hi all-
I'm not sure if anyone can help me out with Canadian records or advice on how to go about looking for them;
Story so far and info I have:
I am searching for information on a Penelope Greenhalgh, birth details: England & Wales, Birth Index: 1916-2005 about Penelope Greenhalgh Name: Penelope Greenhalgh Mother's Maiden Surname: Jones Date of Registration: Jan Feb Mar 1943 Registration district: St Asaph Registration county: Wales Volume Number: 11b
Her actual dob: 09-01-1943
I have the certificate and know details are correct for the above, now it does say far left of the certificate "adopted" so I thought gro messed up and sent it out in error.
I have found a passenger record :
UK, Outward Passenger Lists, 1890-1960 about Emily G Greenhalgh Name: Emily G Greenhalgh Gender: Female Age: 36 Birth Date: abt 1913 Departure Date: 27 May 1949 Port of Departure: Southampton, England Destination Port: Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Ship Name: Aquitania Search Ship Database: Search the 'Aquitania' in the 'Passenger Ships and Images' database Shipping Line: Cunard White Star Limited Official Number: 135538 Master: R B G Woollatt
landing at Halifax Nova Scotia home address: Crumpsall, Manchester 8 occupation: Housekeeper country of last permanent residence: Canada Intended permanent residence: Canada Travelling with daughter Penelope
Which also matches up with information I have. I have spoken to a distant relative of penelopes birth mother who told me Penelope is know as "penny" and was adopted by Dorothy and red Conroy (Dorothy is Emily's younger sister) and she believes penelope grew up in Canada as a Gresley-jones Conroy but is not sure if this was official.
Now Dorothy passed away last fall in Richmond bc and she thinks penny could be in Vancouver area but she doesn't know if she married or is alive etc
I have information on Penelope's English parents Stanley and Emily whilst they were in England, I know that Stanley remained in the country and had another family but I'm unsure of what happened to Emily, I could find no further marriage deaths etc here in uk, and the relative I spoke to was unsure if Emily even returned she does not recall an aunt Emily growing up so I don't know what happened to her. But it's Penelope that in interested in as she would be my aunt in law if she was still alive but I don't know where to begin to start looking on this one, so if anyone can help or offer any advice on where to start it would be greatly welcomed thank you :-)

It's a possibility, there is no known ties to lancs and there is no middle name of m but one thing I've learnt is you are only as good at information as the person telling so I will ear mark it, thank you :-)

Hello Ann-Marie
I think you are going to struggle with this one for two reasons:
1) If she was adopted and you dont know for sure who the adoptive couple were
2) Canada have strict privacy laws and most records have a 100 year rule
Can you post the details for Dorothy please
