As Marion had such an unusual middle name, I'm wondering if this could be relevant?

England & Wales, National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations), 1858-1966 about Marion Jack Tait
Name: Marion Jack Tait

Death Date: 13 Aug 1919

The death certificate of the above will give her parents names which will either confirm or eliminate that one.

On second thoughts.... I need to check my maths skills

Joan Andrews b 1856 that I selected was the daughter of this couple
groom's name: Peter Andrew
groom's birth date:
groom's birthplace:
groom's age:
bride's name: Marion Gillies
marriage date: 22 Dec 1854
marriage place: Dalkeith,Midlothian,Scotland

And then I found this:
Joan Andrew, wife of John Riddick was born circa 1850.
This IS the family from the 1841/185T census returns that I posted... DUH!

groom's name: Peter Andrew
groom's birth date:
groom's birthplace:
groom's age:
bride's name: Marion Jack
bride's birth date:
bride's birthplace:
bride's age:
marriage date: 27 Jun 1835
marriage place: Dalkeith,Midlothian,Scotland

There are no children listed on FS for Peter Andrew and Marion Jack but all the children on the census returns were born between 1835 and 1850

Re Jack as a mid-name:
Especially in Scotland, it wasn't unusual to have a surname as a mid-name. All 3 of my aunts had this - two were given their mum's maiden surname, and the other, her gran's maiden surname.

Just to recap:
Henry Boulton and Marion Jack Riddick :
Married in Troqueer, Kirkcudbright in 1900

Pretty certain that Marion Jack Riddick was the daughter of John Riddick and Joan Andrew.
Married in Inveresk with Musselburgh in 1876.

Again, I am sure that Joan Andrew was the born in Dalkeith circa 1850 to
Peter Andrew and Marion Jack who married in Dalkeith on 27 Jun 1835

Traditionally, a first born daughter is named for her mother's mother...
ie Marion Jack RIDDICK
