Marie, that is him in 1911. Could the 10 years have been the time he was married to Annie or maybe Catherine? |

Just a guess going by location of 1911 |

Just a slight correction for 1911 census:-states having 2 children, not 1 (l living and 1 died) |

BM - as I said right at the beginning, if Annie and George Chamberlain had ever really married (no matter where in the world it happened) then she would have used the name Chamberlain on her marriage to Henry Lewsey. I also said that divorce was almost unheard of back then for ordinary people (it was way too expensive) so if George didn't die until 1918 then she was either legally unmarried in 1906 or committing bigamy (not actually that uncommon). I think the former is more likely. |

This looks to be Annie and her two children in 1891:- |

I think that 1891 is Annie's children. They're shown as boarders and Anne Carlson is his wife, not sure that it's her. |

I think that there is a good chance that it is her in 1891 and she is just living with George Carlson, after all it wouldn't be the first time. |

It's not unlikely Catherine! |

This family has been niggling at me because there are so many loose ends! Have been doing a load of Scottish research myself so had some spare credits. |

BM - Housepainters weren't that wealthy! I've already checked the divorce records on the National Archives and there's nothing coming up. |

Ok thank you. |

BM - if you look at the marriage details from 1876 that I posted for him you'll see his father was also a housepainter. |

Can't see a baptism for Catherine Kerr, but found the marriage of her parents:- |

According to the 1910 death for Catherine Chamberlain, her father George Kerr was a Baker, not a House Painter ?? |

That's right Catherine. |

This is confusing but right from the start, I thought there were 2 different men called George Chamberlain. |

Anne, the thing that pulls it altogether is George's army service records. That gives his wife as Annie of 144 Clarendon Street and we can see Annie there in 1891 with daughter Georgina. We've also followed that trail. |
