Colin appears to have Lindley Bridgman, 1847, Barnstaple in his tree.

Rereading his post, he could mean that William Bridgman/Elisabeth Burgess were in the late 1700's.

Different occupation for William here, but same address.

EDIT - On page 2 of this thread I have posted a record for a William Bridgman , Drum Major,in the North Devon Militia, born c1788 in Bideford, Devon. The document records that he was a cordwainer (ie shoemaker) by trade, which seems to cover all the baptisms for William and Elizabeth's children in Barnstaple, that i have posted above and below.

The Lindley Charles Bridgman who married Elizabeth Harris Sommers as previously posted by Lynski was a surveyor, and gave his address as High Bray Devonshire., so it seems to tie in well.
