Smith Families in SW Berkshire.

I have been collecting 'Smiths' Bapts, Marriages & Burials from the Anglican Parish Registers in SW Berkshire, in & around Newbury along to Hungerford and upto Lambourne, plus a few of the neighbouring parishes (in Berkshire).

Am willing to share/look up any Smith familes for anyone who would like it.

Dates are c1700 - c1900, (but mostly c1700 - 1812/13 or 1837).

Please note - this is not complete, but I am working on it when I can!!

Anyone interested?

I'll help where I can. Remember - Anglican parishes ONLY!!

Please note - Parishes are:- Newbury (St Nicholas & St. John), Speen, Shaw-cum-Donnington, Stockcross, Speenhamland, Thatcham, Enborne, Hampstead Marshall, West Woodhay, Inkpen, Kintbury, Hungerford, Avington, Boxford, Welford & Lambourn.

Now have Bucklebury parish as well (Bapts & Marriages).

Others will follow when I get a moment to do so.

Marcus

Not as yet, unfortunately, only parishes mentioned above so far! But if there are any that might be mentioned in Thatcham parish, I can look for you.

:-)

Marcus me again! could you tell me where parish details from
?Herinetage(perhaps Hermitage) and Woolhampton might be found please.

Marcus

Marcus Report 29 Nov 2012 15:20

Hi Jan!!

The parish records are most likely held at BRO - Berkshire Record Office in Reading, but are sometimes held by the church themselves.

Try the Record office first on - www.berkshirerecordoffice.org.uk - or you can call them on 0118 937 5132.

I haven't yet got around to taking copies from these parishes, and probably won't for a while, so do contact the above.

Regards,

Marcus

Any time Marcus :-)

It's a shame we don't have anywhere specific to put these sorts of threads where they will be noticed - I have suggested it more than once but it never happens :-(

Just kep it nudged and 'keep up the good work' !

You might not be noticed by many people but those who you do get to help will be eternally grateful !
