Hello Gins.Thank you
I think it is. Kings Langley rings a bell.I think they may be linked to Breakspears/Brakspears brewers. The company told me the Salmons and Breakspears were always getting married.I just need to chase John's and Emma's lines back to see details of their parents, and get back another generation. Pat

That's why the name sounded so familiar Pat; the brewery. Before children, when hubby used to go to away football matches and sometimes I would go with him, we would find pubs which sold 'local' beers and try them out.

And I've just remembered. Nicholas Breakspear became Pope Adrian IV

I hate it when you know a name but can't place it.

So anyway I Googled old Nick and found this on Wiki. It might give you another angle to research the family from.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pope_Adrian_IV

Excerpt for you

Pope Adrian IV (c. 1100 – 1 September 1159),[1] born Nicholas Breakspear or Breakspeare, was Pope from 1154 to 1159.
Adrian IV has been the only Englishman so far to occupy the papal chair.[2][3] It is generally believed that Nicholas Breakspear was born at Breakspear Farm[4][5][6][7] in the parish of Abbots Langley in Hertfordshire and received his early education at the Abbey School, St Albans (St Albans School).

Hi Jill
Thanks for replying.
Our branch of the Breakspears end up in Birmingham, and then Jane marries into the Davis family. They gave one of their daughters the 2nd Christian name of Breakspear. It seemed to be practice to use mums maiden names as a Christian name.
Not sure where her brother went as I haven't looked down his line .But our family history is based all over, including Birmingham and Gloucester.Lovely to talk to you. Pat

likely you are related to my maternal Breakspears from Berkshire/Oxford

I believe Breakspears brewery is still on the go - there are bottles of the stuff in supermarkets

they also had a biscuit factory which became Huntley and Palmers

Hi Ann
I read somewhere that the brewery had been taken over by another firm, this was some time ago, (can't remember the name for the life of me),but they were still using the names of the beers.I didn't know they were connected to Huntley and Palmer biscuits.Crumbs!! Pat
