replying to Margaret and above - I think I will never find a record of her birth, and have no idea what school she attended or indeed much else. And to Rose - yes there are many others. My grandmother may have gone off with my grandfather before he ceased having children with his wife, then! No surprise really. More research to do, I think..... Thanks to everyone trying to help, but I sense little chance of getting a true picture for some time to come...or maybe never. |

There are several Brewer/Lockyer births up until 1929, so Violet must have met Lanceley in Somerset and then they moved to the London area. |

Cheers all! Mother's birth date was (I think!) 12th July 1927...but you may know better! Mum married both dates. Dad died in 1958. Gwendoline J and Lanceley C G are both siblings as you have spotted. Phyllis J should have been recorded as Brewer. How do you all get to be so good at this?!! I'd love to know where Violet went in 1901, too! I found her on the 1891 Census but nowt on 1901!! |

Did your mother marry first in 1946 and then again in 1977? |

With a statistic like that, you’d think many people might have inadvertently given birth while travelling on the tube. |

Just found Joan - she was named Phyllis J. that's why I couldn't find her! Saw George, thanks. It's the children after Shore's death that cause the most confusion, but my Mum's top of the list of oddities (sorry, mum!) :-) |

Yes, that's my mother's death. The birth record doesn't seem likely as her birthdate is different, but hey, who knows WHAT is true? |
